Jean Bugatti

Jean Bugatti (born the January 15th 1909 - August 11th 1939) is a Engineer in Mécanique, Designer and Industriel Automobile, test pilot of factory Alsatian (Italy N by its family origins). He is the son of Ettore Bugatti, founder and manufacturer of the automobile mark Bugatti.

Biography

He is born the January 15th 1909 in Alsace. Only sons heir to the Alsatian car manufacturer Ettore Bugatti of which he inherits the géni avant-gardist. Small son of the Artist and Architect Carlo Bugatti, back small son of the sculptor Italy N Giovanni Luigi Bugatti and nephew of the Sculptor Rembrandt Bugatti. His/her father founds his Bugatti factory with Molsheim - Dorlisheim to 20 km in the west of Strasbourg in December of the year of his birth.

Jean works very early with dimensions of his father at the research department of the factory. He quickly appears equipped at least with the same talents of artist as his father by drawing the most elegant body which ever equipped a Bugatti frame:

  • the Royal Bugatti " half-compartment of the patron"
  • the Royal Bugatti roadster Esders
  • the Bugatti T46 " Small Royale" semi-shaped
  • the Bugatti roadster T55
  • the half-compartments Bugatti Aerolite and Bugatti Atlantic on frame Standard T57.

Jean shows also talents of Engineer in Mécanique and contributes to the modernization of the cars produced by his father whom it stimulates: cylinder head engines with Double camshaft at the head, Frame flattened, Brake S hydraulics…

In the last years preceding the Second world war, his/her father delegates his responsibilities more and more to him.

In 1939 Jean Bugatti dramatically kills during the tests out of a Bugatti Type 57 C the August 11th with old 30 years with Duppigheim to 10 km in the east out of the factory out of Molsheim-Dorlisheim. It is a drama for his/her father and Bugatti who will not go back from there.

Its death, the Second world war, the economic difficulties of the post-war period and the death of Ettore Bugatti the August 21st 1947 without successor involved the disappearance of the mark entered the legend of the pioneers of the car of elite.

After having tried to survive a few years its two genious founders, the mark and the Bugatti factory are resold in 1963 with the manufacturer French Ispano Suiza.
