Jean Behourt

Jean Behourt , born in first half of with Rouen where he died in 1621, is a grammairien and Dramaturge French.

Regent of the college of the Good children of Rouen of 1586 with 1620, Jean Behourt composed for this college three Tragédie S, Polixène , tragi-comedy in three acts, with choruses, drawn from the first book of the tragic Histoires of P. Boisteau, dedicated to the princess of Montpensier, represented the September 7th 1597, Esaü, or the hunter , tragedy in five acts, dedicated to the duke of Montpensier, represented the August 2nd 1598, Hypsicratée or the Magnanimity , dedicated to Georges de Montigny, tragedy in five acts, represented with the same place.

Behourt also wrote in 1607 a Latin summary of the grammar of Despautières which, shortened in its turn, was used a long time in the colleges under the name of Petit Behourt .
