Jean Bauer , born in 1914 with Laval and dead the May 30th 2005 with Angers, was a Luthier French.
He was the undeniable leader of the French Lutherie and in the field of creation, doubtless one of the largest violin makers of XXesiècle.
In 1941, It settles with Angers, because it wanted a city not too distant from Paris, but which would offer good conditions for creation to him. Jean Bauer had implied himself in the cultural life angevine as of his arrival in the city. He sells its first violin to a professional musician. Some six hundred musicians of the whole world have the privilege to have a Bauer , an instrument designed by this Master violin maker.
He had made his studies of stringed-instrument trade with Mattaincourt, close to Mirecourt, at Marius Didier.
With large fellow-members, and in particular Marcel Vatelot, it will be at the origin of the creation of the National school of Stringed-instrument trade of Mirecourt, the beating heart of the French stringed-instrument trade.
President since 1962 of the Company in the popular concerts, it worked for the creation of a permanent orchestra, the future Philharmonic orchestra of the Countries of the Loire.
Of 1963 with 1972, it chaired the Committee angevin cultural activity, which allowed the installation Angers of a house of the culture.
