Jean Baptist Marie Fouque known as Jean-Marius Fouque or Marius Fouque (Arles, July 2nd 1819 - Lorient, 1880)

Biography

Wire of a metal worker, Jean Baptiste Marie Fouque has for first Master the painter arlésien Huard. Profiting then from a purse of the town of Arles, he studies painting with the École of the Art schools of Paris under the direction of Joseph-Leon of Lestang-Parade and Cogniet. He exposes as of 1846 and profits from many government orders. Painter of the second empire, it carries out many portraits of the emperor and the empress and becomes official painter of the king of Siam.
