Jean Afanassieff

Jean Afanassieff is a Alpiniste and Réalisateur French of Russian origin, born with Paris in 1953.

After many rises as a recluse in the Alps, become Guide of high mountain at the 20 years age, member of the company of the guides of Chamonix, it is the first to have climbed with Patrick Cordier the Mont Ross with the islands Kerguelen in 1975 and it forms part, with Pierre Mazeaud and Nicolas Jaeger, of the first French cord to reach the top of the Everest in 1978. During same forwarding, it carries out with Nicolas Jaeger the first downhill run since more than 8000 meters.

It carries out documentary films and films forwardings in which it takes part (4 forwardings on the Everest, K2, Broad Peak, Nanga Parbat, 2 in Fitz-Roy, the Andes of Bolivia, travels with the goélette Antartica around the Antarctic) then is devoted to the trade of author-realizer on varied topics: the sporting human adventure and, sciences, space, history, the environmental protection and the discovery of remarkable sites.

Its films are marked by its passion to make divide with the public of the meetings with characters out it common and to make live, thanks to these “spontaneous actors”, of the stories and discover areas which belong to the natural heritage of humanity.
