Jean Alexis Achard is a painter French, born with Voreppe in 1807, and died in Grenoble in 1884.

Achard is known for its fabrics representing of the landscapes of the Dauphiné, which was worth the uncontested title to him of main landscape into Dauphine . It is the initiator of the school from the Dauphine, which also counts among its members Laurent Guétal, Ernest Victor Hareux, Charles Bertier and some others. They were sometimes called landscape designers from the Dauphine.

He remains in Egypt between 1835 and 1837 with his friend Victor Sappey and exposes to the Salon of Paris, in 1838, Vue taken around Cairo , then regularly thereafter, as in 1843 with seen valley of Grenoble .

He attended in 1846 the school of Barbizon and counted among his friends painters Corot, Rousseau, Daubigny, Diaz, French François-Louis auprès whose he exerts a certain influence. Harpignies was its pupil. He was also a famous engraver. Between 1858 and 1859, it remains with Honfleur and places with the farm of Saint-Siméonen company of Boudin and Monet.

Several of works of Achard are presented to the Musée of Grenoble, of which Paysage, seen of Saint-Egreve (close to Grenoble) and the thatched cottage . Other works are present at Paris with the Musée of Louvre, with the Musée of the Art schools of Chambéry, with the museum of the castle of Fontainebleau.
