Jean-Pierre Serre is a Mathématicien French born the September 15th 1926 with Bages (the Eastern Pyrenees). He is regarded as being one of the largest mathematicians of the 20th century. He received many rewards for his research of which the Médaille Fields in 1954.

After having carried out its thesis in the field of the algebraic Topology under the direction of Henri Cartan, it carried out fundamental work in Théorie of the numbers and algebraic Géométrie.

Jean-Pierre Serre is a former student of the National university, medal-holder Fields in 1954, Gold medal of CNRS in 1987, Prix Leroy P. Steele in 1995, Prix Wolf in 2000, Prix Abel in 2003, member of the Academy of Science, member of the American National Academy off Sciences, professor emeritus with the Collège de France and former member of the group Bourbaki.
