Jean-Pierre Pichette
Jean-Pierre Pichette is a Canadian ethnologist , specialist in the Folklore and oral traditions of the minority Francophonie S of the North America.
Biography
Pichette is full professor at the department of the Social sciences, ethnologist in charge of the courses of ethnology, holder of the Chaire of research of Canada in orality of the minority francophonies of America (COFRAM) and director of the acadian Center (CA) with the Université Holy-Anne, in Nova Scotia.He was Directeur of the Department of Folklore and Ethnologie of the Université of Sudbury of 1983 with 2004 and professor at this university between 1981 and 2004. Pichette made research on the ethnology of the French-speaking people in North America, which it got busy to make known as well with the Canada as in Europe. It founded the files of folklore of the University of Sudbury.
It directed the review Rabaska , a review of ethnology of French America. Specialist in the popular tale, the folklore and the cultural heritage, he is the author of the ethnological Repertory of French Ontario.
