Jean-Pierre Jouyet

Jean-Pierre Jouyet , born the February 13rd 1954 with Montreuil under Wood, is a senior official and a French politician.

Graduate of thorough studies of public law and graduate of the Institute of political studies of Paris, he is a former student of ENA, promotion Voltaire (1980).

Part-time lecturer to the IEP Paris (1984-1988 and 1997), he is president of the club of reflection " Democracy 2000" (1985-1992) before entering to the General inspection of Finances. It occupies various functions within the ministry for Finances before taking, of 1988 to 1991, the direction of the cabinet of Roger Fauroux, Minister of Industry and Town and country planning. He becomes then director-assistant, then directing cabinet of Jacques Delors, president of the European commission of 1991 to 1995.

From 1997 to 2000, he is director-assistant of the cabinet of Lionel Jospin, Prime Minister. He occupies then the position of director of the Treasury of 2001 to 2005, before being appointed chief of the Service of the General inspection Of Finances of 2005 to 2007. In same time, it is named president de Barclays France.

Near to his/her former colleagues of the promotion Voltaire Ségolène Royal and François Holland, it is one of the signatories, under the pseudonym of Gracques, of a call to an alliance PS-UDF during the presidential campaign of 2007.

the May 18th 2007, it becomes Secretary of State to the European, near the Foreign Minister and European businesses, Bernard Kouchner, in the government of Francois Fillon.

He was president of the Club of Paris.

He is married with Brigitte Taittinger, one of the grand-daughters of Pierre Taittinger, currently chairman of the perfumes Annick Goutal.
