Jean-Pierre Duprey
French poet and sculptor (Rouen, 1930 - Paris, 1959).
Biography
Born in Rouen on January 1st, 1930, he writes as of fifteen years of first noticed poems. Gone up in Paris in 1948 with the invitation of André Breton, it takes part in the movement Surréaliste. Tragic and independent personality, it gives up poetry with beginning of the year 50 to be devoted entirely to the sculpture. Decree and passed with tobacco after having urinated on the falls from the Unknown soldier in protest against the Guerre of Algeria, it is then interned during several months. Returned with poetry in the greatest secrecy, it hangs on October 2nd, 1959.Its poetic work, gradually put at the day, exerted and continuous to exert sharpest fascination on several generations of poets.
