Jean-Paul Penin is a Leader French, born with Saint-Dizier the December 31st 1949.
Biography
Jean-Paul Penin carried out his musical studies with the academy of Strasbourg (double bass, analyzes and chamber music), of Paris (history of the music, classifies Yves Gerard), and of San Francisco, as a prize winner of the Foundation Fulbright (direction of orchestra, analyzes - class of John Adams).Holder of an arts control and a doctorate of biophysics of the University of Strasbourg.
Prize winner of the International Contest of young leaders Min one of Tokyo.
Assistant of Alain Lombard with the Philharmonic orchestra of Strasbourg then of Lorin Maazel with the Opera of State of Vienna (1980-1984).
Permanent invited chief of the national Philharmonic society of Cracow (1990-1994). In recognition of his work with this orchestra (turned, recordings, patronage), the president Lech Walesa promoted it Officier in the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.
Jean-Paul Penin created in 1991, with the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, the concerto for piano of Olivier Messiaen, concert televised, in the presence of the type-setter (Philharmonic orchestra of the Radio Dutchwoman).
The Bärenreiter Editions entrusted to him, under the aegis of UNESCO and the presidency of the Republic the exclusiveness in the French re-creation in the Solemn Messe in Berlioz, whose manuscript had just been discovered, and of which it carried out the first world recording, in the Basilique of Vézelay, on October 7th, 1993, for France-Music, Agreement-Universal and France-Television. Thereafter, it created this work with the Festival Berlioz of the Coast-Saint-Andre, then in many European and American cities, with Buenos-Surfaces, in particular, with the Théâtre Colón, in 1998, and, more recently, with the festival of Santander, in 2003).
September 8th, 2000, to the head of the orchestra of the Czech National radio, it directed the inaugural concert of the Festival Dvořák, within the framework of the demonstrations for Prague European Capitale of the Culture , program broadcast, before taking along the orchestra in round with the Childhood of Christ of Berlioz. One in its concerts (Bartók - Debussy) with the Philharmonic society of Dresden (2002) was broadcast on line in 24 countries, within the framework of the European exchanges, concert after which it was invited to the Semperoper of Dresden (orchestra of Staatskapelle).

Recordings
Jean-Paul Penin is recognized by the musical press like a “discoverer of masterpieces”. In addition to the first recording of the Solemn Mass of Berlioz and of the two cantatas of Beethoven Joseph II and Léopold II , one indeed owes him several first world recordings of operas.-
