Jean-Paul Depretto
Jean-Paul Depretto is a Historien French specialist in the social Histoire of the Soviet Union, in particular of the working history.
Work
It is Professor of the universities in Modern history with the Université of Toulouse it Mirail and researcher associated with the Center of studies of the worlds Russian, Caucasian and centers European (the CERCEC, directed by Alain Blum) of the École of the High Studies in Social sciences. He is member of the editorial board of the reviews the Social movement and Matériaux for the history of our time .The work the workmen in the USSR, 1928-1941 , prefaced by Rene Girault, is the shortened version of a thesis of State supported in 1992. For a social history of the Soviet mode calls with the writing of a social Histoire which places the State in the center of its concerns, by nourishing contributions of the political Histoire. He condemns it through consisting in plating on the USSR of the concepts which have relevance only in the Western countries, like the concept of Social class.
He coordinated as from 2000 the project “Nijni-Novgorod”, associating the CERCEC and the Institute of history of the Academy of Science of Russia with historians and archivists of Nijni-Novgorod. The project allowed the publication of three volumes of documents of files with accompanying notes on the area of Nijni-Novgorod over the period 1917-1985 (first volume published in 2002; volumes 2 and 3 published in 2005).
