Jean-Patrick Cuff
Jean-Patrick Manchette (Marseilles, December 19th 1942 - Paris, June 3rd 1995) was a writer French.
Presentation
Author of detective novels and whodunnit S, it was also critical of Romance blacks and cinema, film dialogist and scenario writer, and translator. He is regarded as the “pope of the néo-whodunnit”, although he is located in the tradition of the large Masters of the American whodunnit like Hammett or Chandler.He is very early militant, with in particular the fight against the Guerre of Algeria, then in the Extreme left in mobility situationnist. Impassioned American Jazz and whodunnits, it starts by writing scenarios of short-measuring, sexy films with the realizer max Pécas and of the episodes of the Televised series the Globe trotters .
It unloads in the Black series in 1971 with Laissez to bronze the corpses (with Jean-Pierre Bastid) and the Business Gustro . Last nine other novels will follow. He is also translator (Robert Littell, Robert Bloch, John Buell, Ross Thomas and Donald Westlake), critical arts person in Charlie Mensuel, Polar and occasionally Libération. He takes part in many scenarios of televised series and cinema and directs the collection of Science-fiction Futurama .
He stops writing fictions in 1982. Reached from a serious form of Agoraphobia, it will pass the essence of its last years cloister at his place. He dies on June 3rd, 1995 of a Cancer of the lung.
He is the father of the journalist of cinema and realizer Doug Headline.
