Jean-Nicolas Bouilly
Jean-Nicolas Bouilly (January 24th 1763, close to Turns - April 25th 1842, Paris), writer and playwright French.
It was lawyer and fills various administrative offices of 1790 with 1800. It published several plays which had success:
- Pierre Large the (1790), music of Grétry;
- the Abbot of the sword (1799), Op3era Comique of Fanchon Vielleuse ;
- the Two Days (1800), music of Cherubini.
- a Madness . (1802), Music of Méhul
- Héléna (1803), Music of Méhul
- Valentine of Milan (1807), Music of Méhul (unfinished)
Its name was especially popularized in its writings for childhood:
- Talks of an old man (1807);
- Tales with my daughter (1809);
- the Councils with my daughter (1811);
- Tales offered to the children of France ;
- Good-byes of the old storyteller (1835).
With its work Léonore or the marital love , Bouilly is the original librettist of the opera Fidelio of Ludwig van Beethoven.
It published in 1836 memories under the title My recapitulations .
