He as well writes on scientific subjects or histories as on poetry, but he also expresses his creativity in collections of poems or proses which are never really tales nor news. He collaborates inter alia in the reviews the Tree in words , New Inédit , Isis , and Encres sharp .What interests it in poetry, it is the space of freedom which each proposed text, the opening would say Umberto Eco, the suggestion would say Stephan Mallarmé, two concepts which in addition define poetic modernity.

Today, the poem adopts meaning forms so much that the kind of which it changing is not easily classable. What thus attracts me, it is this tendency to the confusion of the kinds and importance attached to the image, with the interior and/or external landscape .
Jean-Michel Tartayre is very attached to the places in its poems. The concept of place (X) in poetry appears fundamental to me. The poet is always located compared to a space or at a place (however vague) when he undertakes to write, that it is about the space of the white page, spaces textual, imaginary, environmental, or of the topos. And the art of the poet consists in giving to see in a way original, singular, its perception of a certain inventory of fixtures, either that it enjoys to treat of the commonplaces, or that it sticks to the less ordinary places, but always, in both cases, with a will of dépayser, to metamorphose the banality in notable fact, to accost the quay of a new universe, unknown, strange .
Its collection Van Gogh thundering clearness is a true re-creation in poetry of the topics and landscapes at the same time so daily and so eternal of the painter.
Michel Cosem underlined in this author an at the same time nostalgic and revolted writing . Jean-Michel Tartayre defines its poetry as a realistic and popular poetry, where the strangeness is moreover not excluded. .
