Jean-Maurice Dehousse , born with Liege on October 11th, 1936, is a Syndicaliste and a Belgian Political personality and a Walloon militant, member of the Socialist party.

Biography

Wire of the Belgian politician Fernand Dehousse and of the philologist Rita Lejeune, he is doctor in right of the Université of Liege and laid off in high international studies of the John Hopkins University. He is father of 5 children of which Franklin Dehousse.
Independent and atypical spirit, of a sometimes ombrageux nature, it expresses a constant engagement in walk towards the Belgian regionalism and a great attachment with the Walloon region, refusing, for example fusion between Communauté and Région.

Member of the Walloon Popular movement since 1961, he becomes also union representative FGTB of the scientific personnel of the university of Liege. It is for this reason that it takes part in the regionalistic Congress of the Walloon Socialists of 1967 when it declares: " We said socialist initially, Walloons always! Now, we say: Walloons initially… "

He continues his political career on the national plan and regional, obtaining various moroccos ministerial and collaborating in various stages of the institutional reforms of the Belgium, but also on the local plan, with Liege. He is elected there to advise communal in 1976, it becomes burgomaster in 1994 about it. He divides the head of the group there known as Groupe Perron with Jose Happart in the internal conflicts with the inhabitant of Li2ege federation of PS.
He resigns of the maïorat to become appointed European in 1999. He is characterized then by his virulent opposition to the European Constitutional treaty.
He leaves his European functions in 2004 and announces his political retirement. He is still to advise communal in Liege and remains active within PS.

If one disregards provisional regionalization (1974-1977), it can be regarded as the first president of an official government of the Walloon region.
