Jean-Marie Schaeffer is a Philosophe, Théoricien of the esthetic reception and definition of the Art. He is researcher with CNRS, and teaching with EHESS.

Esthetic specialist in philosophical and Theory of arts, its work is distributed between two approaches:

  • analyzes philosophical field of esthetics and arts: history of philosophical esthetics, analyzes conceptual artistic and esthetic concepts

  • study of specific objects related to the field of arts: photographic image, literary fiction, account, kinds…

The whole of its research takes as a starting point the methodological tools of the structural analysis and the analytical Philosophie and takes to support on the assets of philosophy “naturalist” of the spirit, cognitive sciences and anthropological work.

Its works in progress relate on the evolutionary and cognitive bases of the esthetic relation, on the interaction between “art” and “esthetics”, like to the bonds between the fictional competence conceived like psychological capacity and arts of the fiction.
