Jean-Marie Ragon

Jean-Marie Ragon de Bettignies (1781 - 1862), born with the Bray-on-Seine of a father notary, was initiated with the Franc-maçonnerie in 1804 with Bruges where its functions of cash clerk in the imperial administration had brought it.

He was member of the Grand the East of France, of the Rite of Misraïm, the Temple of Bernard-Raymond Fabre-Palaprat.

He founded and chaired celebrates it Parisian cabin " Amis" Truths; , become then " Trinosophes" , as well as the Chapter and the Learned assembly sticking to it.

Considered by its contemporaries as the Freemason more informed of the 19° century, he is the author of many works maconnic which had a considerable influence: the Mass and its Mysteries , the philosophical and interpretative Course of old and modern initiations , Orthodoxy Maçonnique , Masonry Occults , etc as well as a collection of Ritual Maçonniques (and connected, such those of the Forestry).

Many of its works was republished by the Editions Priory, then several in facsimiled by the editions Lacour-Ollié.

He was also the editor of the first French maconnic review, Hermes .
