Jean-Marie Leon Dufour

Leon Jean Marie (or Jean-Marie Leon ) Dufour is a Médecin and a Naturaliste French, born the April 11th 1780 with Saint-Sever in the Landes and dead the April 18th 1865 in this same city.

Of 1799 with 1806, it studies the Médecine with Paris. At that time, he is the friend of Jean-Baptiste Bory of Saint-Vincent and supervises for him the impression of sound Voyage in the four principal islands of the seas of Africa . The author is grateful by affirming to him in his foreword that the zeal of the young man for the Natural history promises with this science one its greater subjects ”.

Later, Dufour takes part as a doctor in the countryside of Spain of 1808 in 1814. The finished war, it returns to settle in its birthplace.

It published, during its life, 232 articles on the Arthropode S, of which a score devoted to the Araignée S. It is in particular necessary to quote its anatomical Recherches on Carabiques and several other Coleopters (1824-1826, Paris).
