Jean-Marie Domenach
Jean-Marie Domenach (1922 - 1997) is a Résistant, writer and intellectual French Catholique.
Biography
Born with Lyon in 1922, Jean-Marie Domenach made studies of letters (Khâgne with the Lycée of the Park, with Lyon).In 1941 - 1942, it animates the resistance of the students of the University of Lyon with his/her friend Gilbert Dru. It joined in August 1943 the maquis of the Vercors and the École of the executives of Uriage. It directs in 1945 the review of the French Forces of the interior, With the weapons! .
Secretary, of 1946 with 1957, of the re-examined personalist Spirit, founded by Emmanuel Mounier, it takes again the direction of it after the death of Mounier and its successor Albert Béguin, of 1957 with 1976. With Mounier, it supports in 1949 the publication of the Second sex of Simone de Beauvoir. Starting from the Years 1950, the review contributes to the creation of a democratic left (anti-totalitarian) in France, supporting in particular the dissidents of the communist bloc. It makes known in France, after May 68, Ivan Illich, and its ideas of autonomy, ecology policy, Convivialité.
Militant the shortly after the war in the Movement of peace, Domenach fights for the decolonization in Indo-China and Algérie, supporting De Gaulle. He creates the February 8th 1971 with Michel Foucault and Pierre Vidal-Naquet the Groupe of information on the prisons. He took part, in 1974, with the " Sat socialisme" organized by the Socialist party. In 1975, it supports the Vietnamese boat-people, with, in particular, Raymond Aron and Jean-Paul Sartre.
Director of studies of the Training center of the journalists of 1978 with 1980, it is then, of 1980 with 1987, professor of Humanités and Social sciences with the Polytechnic school, where it exempts in particular a course entitled " Approaches of the modernité".
He bases there in 1982 with Jean-Pierre Dupuy, on the base of preliminary reflections of Jean Ullmo, a research center in cognitive Sciences and epistemology, the CREATED, of which part of work will be devoted to the thought of Rene Girard.
He held of the chronicles in several reviews of which the Canadian magazine MacLean , the Expansion , and Catholic France . He took part in the club " Policy autrement".
He is the father of Jean-Luc Domenach.
