Jean-Marc Nattier

Jean-Marc Nattier , born the March 17th 1685 with Paris and dead the November 7th 1766 with Paris, is a painter French.

Biography

Wire of the portraitist Marc Nattier and the miniaturist Courteous Marie, it paints as of the 15 years age, by recopying the tables of Rubens ordered by Marie de Médicis. Named member of the Royal Academy of painting in 1718, it mixes realism and imaginations while inserting mythological characters in its works. It was devoted to the painting of portraitscar it was ruined, to the beginning of its career, by the bankruptcy of Law, and becomes official portraitist of the family of Orleans then of the court of Louis XV in 1748. It appears today like one of largest the portraitists of. His/her brother Jean-Baptiste Nattier, was too painter him.
