Jean-Luc Marion

Jean-Luc Marion is a Philosophe French, born in 1946.

He teaches with the Université of Paris-Iv Sorbonne and to the Université of Chicago, the collection " directs; Épiméthée ", with the University Presses of France.

Its research field is vast, comprising the Cartesianism (the place and the role of Rene Descartes in the history of metaphysics), the contemporary phenomenology (which it reorientates using powerful leaning theological) and Christian theology (it was to advise of Monseigneur Lustiger).

Former student of Jean Beaufret, it knew Levinas and Derrida and was a friend close to Michel Henry.

In the prolongation of Levinas, he wants to exceed the question of being it, by thinking God without the being. Cf God without the being .

Contrary to Descartes, he affirms that it is not in the fold of the conscience that it can be posed like existing. Thus, it is others, by its love and the intentionality of its act of love, which is able to pose to me like indubitable subjectivity. The love of others is set up in condition of my existence, as a thinking subjectivity.
