Biography

The talent of Jean-Loup Dabadie enabled him to make several careers simultaneously: scenario writer, novelist, lyric writer, playwright, journalist. Few authors can assert titles as many. Side song, this man always smiling was much success thanks to the diversity of its interpreters.

Wire of Marcel Dabadie, who was also lyric writer (Knight, the Jacques Brothers), Jean-Loup Dabadie is born in Paris in 1938. Its studies occur without clash, initially with the college Janson-of-Sailly, then with the Louis-The-Large college. Thereafter, the Faculty of Arts of Paris accommodates the young man, who impassions himself already for the writing.

In 1957, whereas it is only nineteen years old, Jean-Loup Dabadie publishes its first novel, with the editions of the Threshold. This work, entitled the dry eyes , is followed the following year by the gods of the hearth . Parallel to his beginnings of novelists, the young author starts a career of journalism thanks to Pierre Lazareff, leader of Ingenuous. For this period, he also collaborates in the creation of the review Such as it is , with Philippe Sollers and Jean Edern-Hallier and writing of film criticisms and the reports for Arts.

Sketches, television, cinema and theater

Already extremely occupied, Jean-Loup Dabadie writes since 1962 for television. It makes then team with Jean-Christophe Averty and Guy Bedos for the emissions produced by Michele Arnaud ( Histoire of smiling and green grapes ). Comes, then, the time of the military service, during which Jean-Wolf is affected to the parachutists, in a barracks of Tarbes.

During his service, the author sends some sketches to Guy Bedos, of which Bonne festival Paulette and the boxer . A little later in 1963, whereas Jean-Wolf looks at television, it with the honor to see Guy interpreting his two sketches. This new collaboration will give rise to other jewels of humor such as Mr Suzon , an young man of letters or Dernier in the first .

Jean-Loup Dabadie also starts, during the Sixties, a brilliant career of scenario writer. Indeed, he collaborates, with the passing of years, with the largest French realizers: Claude Sautet ( things of the life , César and Rosalie , a simple history ), Yves Robert ( Hello the artist , an elephant that enormously misleads , We will go all to the paradise ), Claude Pinoteau ( the silencer , the slap , the seventh target ), François Truffaut ( a beautiful girl like me , 1971).

In addition, the career of the author was also marked by the theater. Indeed, Jean-Loup Dabadie signed several parts of which the scarlet family (1967), the mink traveller (1969), Mrs Marguerite (1974) and mixed Double (1986).

beginnings in the song

After all these trades connected to the writing, it is not astonishing only Jean-Loup Dabadie launches out in the writing of songs. Since 1967, he writes, on a music of Jacques Datin, whom he regards as his godfather, the little boy for Serge Reggiani. The interpreter, who always knew to choose authors and type-setters of quality, will record during his career several other signed jewels Dabadie: And then (1968), Of which Americas (1970), the Italian (1971), Hotel of the travellers (1972), lies of a father to his son (1972), the old couple (1972).

It is at the same time as Régine, which has just launched out in the song and seeking a repertory of quality (she sang Gainsbourg and Frederic Botton, also) records a song of Dabadie: It left me two cigarettes (1968). The following year, in 1969, it records the accident and, in 1970, the girls of the street of America . Later, the singer will repeat by singing Me my stories (1978).

More and more of interpreters

The hinge of years 1960/1970 sees the interpreters of Jean-Loup Dabadie multiplying considerably. Initially, Michel Polnareff collaborates with the author since 1969, which gives All the boats, all the birds and Ring has ding . This collaboration continues, during the following years, with much of success: In the house empties (1970), Holidays (1972), One will go all to the paradise (1972), Lettre in France (1977), Jour after day, Our words of love .

Mireille Mathieu also sings Jean-Loup Dabadie, with more or less of success: It is the life but I love you (1970), For you (1970), the man who will be my man (1971) and It was Sunday (1972). Another large high-speed motorboat, Claude François sings I dance (1971) and Nina chick (1972), of the same author. Among the other interpreters of this time Marcel Amont appears ( Dagobert , 1970, the school ), Michele Arnaud ( the house ), Barbara ( Marie-Chenevance , 1971), Dalida ( the clan of the Sicilians , 1970), Juliette Gréco ( Your jealousy , 1974), Marie Laforêt ( the ballade of Clérambard ) and Dominique Walter ( the Seventies , 1969, the child on the mountain ). Lastly, in 1974, he writes the text which devotes the return of Jean Gabin to the song, Maintenant I know (which is rather a monolog, that a song).

In the middle of the years 1970, Jacques Dutronc, who diversifies his authors, collaborates égalemant with Jean-Loup Dabadie: I do not include/understand (1975) and But especially sentimental (1975). Pétula Clark interprets In the city, in 1973 and Nicole Croisille the woman and the child , in 1977. This last interpreter also of other songs of the author ( David , Goodbye and thank you ). However, this period is especially marked, for Jean-Loup Dabadie, by her collaboration with Julien Clerc.

new Collaborations

Indeed, this last starts a turn then and needs new lyric writers. In 1976, Jean-Wolf writes the song to him the too large heart for me and, in 1978, My preference , which will become traditional repertory of the interpreter. Collaboration between Julien Clerc and Jean-Loup Dabadie will give birth, with the passing of years, with other the splendid traditional ones of the song: the assassin assassinated (1980), Women, I love you (1982), I am badly and It dances (1997) elsewhere, enter others.

In addition, to the beginning of the year 1980, Robert Charlebois, who also starts a turn in his career, also turns him to Dabadie: Cloud No 9 (1979), Do not die (1982), the figures speak (1982). For this period, the author also signs the last songs of Yves Montand ( the addition, 1980, Valentine ). Johnny Hallyday also adds songs of Jean-Loup Dabadie to her repertory, of which I married a shade , in 1983.

These years, where does not cease lengthening the list of the interpreters of Dabadie, left us other beautiful florets of the song of which, inter alia, the man with the closed arms , which Alice Dona sings, in 1980. Also, several artists having formerly known their hour of glory try to renew their repertory thanks to from now on the prestigious feather of the author of which Sacha Distel ( Donne me the hand still , 1982), Patrick Juvet ( immoral Rêves , the saturnien , 1982) and Nicoletta ( a man , 1981).

Michel Sardou, is as for him, always at the top of glory, after years 1970 difficult. Jean-Loup Dabadie writes several successes to him, which are added to the long list of those that Sardou already gained: Singer of jazz (1985), the actor (1987), All the boats flies away (1987), Féminin like , Salut , Road book

Lastly, it is necessary to mention that other interpreters marked out the career of lyric writer of Jean-Loup Dabadie, of which Didier Barbelivien, Liane Foly ( the song of Helene , the blue bicycle ), Jessé Garon' and Henri Salvador.

During her brilliant and multiple career, Jean-Loup Dabadie will have been rewarded for her talent on several occasions. Initially, it receives the Grand Prix Vincent Scotto, in 1972. Will follow, the Grand Prix of the SACEM, in 1984 and the Grand Prix of the French song, in 2000. Side cinema, two of its films received the price Louis Delluc ( the slap and things of the life ).
