Jean-Louis Georgelin

Jean-Louis Georgelin , born the August 30th 1948 with Aspet, is a Officier Général French which exerts the function of “Chief of staff of the armies” since his nomination the August 30th 2006.

Biography

Jean-Louis Georgelin is a former student of the military special École of Saint-Cyr military school.

Lieutenant and section head to the school of application of the infantry in 1975/1976, in charge of the training of the pupils warrant officers (promotion Grisoni sergeant), Jean-Louis Georgelin was then named captain, commander of unit, with the 153 {{E}} Régiment of Infantry of Mutzig of 1976 with 1979. It will be in continuation in turn chief of the office “planning finances” with the staff of the Army (1988 - 1991), then Chief of police with the 153 {{E}} Régiment of Infantry of Mutzig of 1991 with 1993, then assistant-ground of the military principal private secretary of the Prime Minister (1994 - 1997), head of the division “plans, programs, evaluation”, then assistant manager of “plane” staffs to the staff of the armies between 1998 and August 2002.

The general Jean-Louis Georgelin then was used as chief of particular staff of the President of the republic Jacques Chirac of the October 25th 2002 for the October 4th 2006. He was named Chief of staff of the armies in the Council of Ministers, the August 30th 2006 to succeed this highly strategic station with the general Henri Bentégeat, called to assume the chairmanship of the military committee of the European Union.
