Jean-Louis Debré

Jean-Louis Debré , born the September 30th 1944 with Toulouse, is a politician French gaullist, member of the Union for a popular movement (UMP). President of the Constitutional council since the March 5th 2007.

Family

He is the son of Michel Debré, old Prime Minister and brother (fraternal twin) of Bernard Debré, doctor and deputy. He is the grandson of the pediatrist Robert Debré and the maternal, the architect Charles Lemaresquier and back side small son of Simon Debré (1854-1939), chief rabbi. His wife Anne-Marie Debré died the July 21st 2007. It had three children with his wife: Charles Debré, the journalist Guillaume Debré and the actress Marie-Victoire Debré.

Political career

City council man Évreux between 1989 and 1995, it tries a parachuting missed in the 18th district by Paris, for the local elections of 1995. When he was president of the National Assembly, he was not conceivable for this admiror of the traditional gaullism, that Nicolas Sarkozy can criticize the government with the seat of the UMP whereas this one was the number two after Dominique de Villepin.

He is elected appointed the June 16th 2002, for XIIe legislature (2002 - 2007), in the 1st district of the the Eure. From 2002 with 2007, he is president of the National Assembly.

The February 23rd 2007, Jacques Chirac appoints it president of the Constitutional council to replace Pierre Mazeaud.

Doctor in Public law, holder of a diploma of higher learning of public law and of a diploma of higher learning of political sciences, bachelor of law, former student of the Institute of political studies of Paris and former student of the National school of the magistrature.
