Jean-Guillaume-Antoine Cuvelier
Jean-Guillaume-Antoine Cuvelier is a dramatic author French, called the Crébillon of the melodrama , born the January 15th 1766 with Boulogne-sur-Mer, died the May 25th 1824.
It followed initially the military career, then was devoted to the theater and was the rival of Rene-Charles Guilbert de Pixérécourt. It gave, of 1793 with 1824, an extraordinary number of melodramas, dramas, mimes, etc, of which several had a great success: this number does not rise with less than 110. One notices inter alia the wild Fille , the Iron hand , the Fille beggar , Jean Sbogar , the Machabées , the Mort of Kleber .
