Jean-Frederic Edelmann

Jean-Frederic Edelmann (Strasbourg * May 5th 1749 - Paris † July 14th 1794) was a Alsatian Compositeur.

He made legal and musical studies and exerted 1774 with 1789 like Pianiste and piano teacher to Paris. He was the friend of Gluck and had amongst other things as a pupil Méhul.

During the revolutionary prédiode, in 1789, it was named governor of the Département of the Low-Rhine. It was guillotine in Paris on July 14th 1794 (22 Messidor An II) because of its membership of the faction Jacobin E.

It composed two opera S, a Oratorio like number of collections of chamber music including obliged Clavecin and instruments.
