Jean-François Reubell or Rewbell (October 6th 1747 with Colmar - November 24th 1807 in Colmar) is a French politician.
Wire of a notary of Colmar, it makes its studies of right and becomes lawyer with the sovereign Council of Alsace. In 1789, he is elected appointed third state of Colmar to the general states. With the constituent Assembly, it votes for the reforms, in particular for the civil Constitution of the clergy, but is opposed to the admission Alsatian Jews with the civil rights. After the escape of Varennes (June 1791), it leaves the Club of the Jacobins and is registered with the Club of Breaking into leaf the. With the dissolution of the constituent Assembly, he is elected public prosecutor syndic of the Haut-Rhin and in 1792 deputy of the Convention by the department of Haut-Rhin. He achieves a mission in the Rhineland, Germany and is in favor of his annexation in France. In 1795, it negotiates with Emmanuel-Joseph Sieyès, peace with the Batavian République. Sent to the legislative body in 1795, he is elected director as of his first meeting. He makes annex in France the Belgium and left bank of the Rhine and one of the initiators of the invasion of the Suisse in 1798. Inside, it fights the Royalists, in particular by the Coup d'etat of the 18 fructidor year V (September 4th, 1797). In 1799, the Councils make it responsible for the defeats of France and it must be defended against many charges. After the 18 brumaire year VIII (November 9th, 1799), Jean-François Rewbell withdraws political life. He dies in Colmar, on November 24th, 1807.
