Jean-François Parot
Jean-François Parot (June 27th 1946) is a French diplomat and writer, specialist in Paris of the 18th century.
He was vice-consul with Kinshasa, general consul of France to Saigon and Athens, adviser of embassy with Doha, Khartoum Djibouti, Ouagadougou, Sofia, minister adviser with Tunis and number 2 with the Embassy of France, like advising with the ministry for the industry and sub-manager of the personnel of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs with Nantes. Between 2002 and 2006, he was assistant editor of the Direction of the Military cooperation and Defense. He is currently Ambassadeur in Republic of Guinea Bissao (nomination of October 12th, 2006).
Bachelor of arts, titular of a control in History and graduate of higher learning of Ethnology, specialist in the Egyptian techniques of momification and myths of the companies océaniennes, and Paris of the 18th century century, he is the author of a study published into micro cards (Hatchet 1970) on the social Structures of the districts of Strike, Saint-Avoye and Saint-Anthony between 1780 and 1785 .
He is especially known to be the author of the detective series Nicolas Le Floch, published with the Editions J. - C. Slats and in the collection “Large Detectives” with Editions 10/18. It is during the long Bulgarian winters, when it was in station in Sofia, that Jean François Parot had the idea of Nicolas Le Floch, born with Guérande and police chief with the Châtelet. Its works are translated into Italian, Spanish, English and Russian. They will be the object soon televisual adaptation with an adaptation of Hugues Pagan. The principal attraction of its novels lies in the scrupulous precision brought to the table of Paris of the 18th century that he proposes. It mingles with it with talent historical events and firmly built police intrigue. One feels to plane the shade of Dumas and Balzac (Vidocq) in these carried out stories of hand of Master.
