Jean-François Laguionie

Jean-François Laguionie is a French realizer of cartoon films, born the October 4th 1939 with Besancon.

Biography

Jean-François Laguionie is not immediately interested by the Cinéma of animation, to which he prefers the Théâtre.

Its meeting with Paul Grimault will allow him autoformer with the techniques of realization of cartoon films. Although very close relations, Paul Grimault and Jean-François Laguionie will work little together (Grimault will produce its first three short films all the same).

Jean-François Laguionie will carry out several short films, whose celebrates it the Crossing of the Atlantic to the oar (1978) which is rewarded with Cannes and obtains a César.

It is at the time of the realization of Gwen or the Book of Sands in 1985, that “Jef” founds “the Factory”, studio of production and realization of cartoon films. Recognized by the critic, Gwen does not know that a success of regard.
