Jean-François-Therese Chalgrin
Jean-François-Therese Chalgrin is a Architecte French born with Paris in 1739 and died in Paris the January 21st 1811.
Biography
It gained large the Prix of Rome in 1758 and remained with Rome of November 1759 at May 1763, where it accepted the teaching of Servandoni. He enjoys the favor of the duke of Choiseul and the count de Saint-Florentin, Secretary of State at the House of the King and was first architect and intendant of the buildings of the count de Provence (1775).Jean-François-Therese Chalgrin married in 1776 Marguerite Emilie Vernet, girl of the painter Claude Joseph Vernet. They had a girl, Louise-Josèphe Chalgrin (1777 - 1794). He was in addition freemason.
In 1777, it was charged to restore the frontage of the church Saint-Sulpice, whose pediment had been struck by the lightning: it replaced it by the current balustrade, built monumental the organ case and built moreover the left tower (1777 - 1780).
Its most noticed work was the church Saint-Philippe-of-Rolls, in which he imitated the provision of the Basilique S paléochrétiennes. It gave the plans in of them 1764 and built it between 1774 and 1784.

In 1806, Napoleon I {{er}} charged it with building a monument with the glory of the Large army. The Triumphal arch of the Star, essentially, was conceived by Chalgrin, but this one died shortly after the effective beginning of construction.
