Jean-Daniel Pollet
Jean-Daniel Pollet is a Cinéaste French, born the June 20th 1936 with the Madeleine, in the Northern , and deceased the September 9th 2004 at the 68 years age to Cadenet, in the Vaucluse (France).
Its cinematographic career starts in 1958 with a short film turned in the guinguettes of the Paris region, Provided that one has intoxication… . It films there the dancers among whom it notices an outgoing individual of the batch, some Claude Melki. The film will turn then around its silhouette and of its hesitations. This noticed short film will be the first of a series of films taking again the character of Melki, fore-mentioned Leon, and representing one of the two aspects of the cinema of Pollet through a taste for a popular comedy impressed of burlesque as much as melancholy.
The second vein of the cinema of Pollet starts with the Mediterranean , turned during 2 years in company of Volker Schlöndorff. Pollet then tries to create a completely poetic cinema. It will succeed there, partly thanks to the quality of the writers who will write the comments of his films, such as Philippe Sollers or Jean Thibaudeau. It will meet finally the work of Francis Ponge, which is perhaps that which corresponds to him best.
Victim, in April 1989, of a terrible accident which leaves it paralyzed (reversed by a train, it is victim of 27 fractures), he will make his last films in the close relations neighborhood of his house of Cadenet.
In 2006, Jean-Paul Fargier finishes last film of Jean-Daniel Pollet Jour after day. Very decreased physically and knowing that it remained to him very little of time to live, the scenario writer decided to carry out a film of photographs of his last year. Its house, seasons, of the fruits, the flowers. He had finished the assembly on paper his death day before.
