Jean-Claude Juncker
Jean-Claude Juncker , born with Redange-on-Attert the December 9th 1954, is a politician Luxembourg. He resides has Capellen. He is Prime Minister since 1995.
Formation
Holder of a control of right of the University of Strasbourg in 1979, it is sworn in as lawyer in February 1980. He will however never exert this trade.
Political career
Member of the social Christian Popular party (CSV) since 1974, it becomes about it, in October 1979, the parliamentary secretary. He will be the president between January 1990 and February 1995.

The designation of Jacques Santer like chair European commission by the European Council and its confirmation at this station by the European Parliament, leads the large-duke Jean to appoint Jean-Claude Juncker Prime Minister and minister of state on January 20th, 1995. Even as a chief of the government, it will continue to exert the functions of Minister for Finance, Employment and Minister for Labor and Minister of Finances.
Juncker took part in the Conseil for the economic affairs and financial (ECOFIN), being one of the key architects of the Traité of Maastricht, and in particular of what raised of the economic Union and monetarist.
After the legislative elections of June 1999, gained by the social Christian Party, Jean-Claude Juncker is renewed with the head of the new government made up representatives of the GCV and Democratic party, putting thus fine at a fifteen years government coalition between the GCV and the Parti working Socialist Luxembourg. Jean-Claude Juncker also keeps the wallets of Finances and the Communications.
Governor of the the World Bank of 1989 to 1995, Jean-Claude Juncker assumes since 1995 the responsibility for governor of the Fonds international currency and for governor of the European Banque for the rebuilding and the development (BERD).
In June 2004, after the victory from its party, which, with more than 35% of the voices, gains twenty-four of the sixty seats to the legislative elections, and three of the six seats to the European elections, Jean-Claude Juncker refuses, in spite of friendly pressure of the majority of the European leaders, the position of president of the European commission.
During the meeting of Scheveningen of the September 10th 2004, Jean-Claude Juncker is carried to the presidency of the Eurogroupe, for a mandate of 2 years, starting from January 1st 2005, while becoming thus the first permanent president. It is renewed in its functions for new a two years mandate, running until the December 31st 2008.
President of this same council during first half of the year 2005, it had to face the European not-ratification of the constitution project on behalf of the France and the Netherlands. He was also in disagreement with British the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, concerning the European budget.
