Jean-Claude Grumberg

Jean-Claude Grumberg (born in 1939) is a writer for children, Dramaturge and Scénariste French.

Biography

Before becoming a major dramatic author, Jean-Claude Grumberg exerts several trades, of which that of tailor, medium that it takes for framework of his part the Workshop .

He discovers the Théâtre while being actor in the company of Jacques Fabbri.

He becomes writer while signing in 1968 Demain, a window on street , then short texts, as Rixe which will be played Comédie-Française.

He writes much on what haunts since very small: the disappearance of his/her father in the death camps Nazis: Maman returns poor orphan , Dreyfus (1974), the Workshop (1979) and free Zone (1990).

In 1998, “the Workshop”, part taken again with the Theater Hébertot in Paris, is a great success and receives in 1999 Molière of the best part of the repertory.

With the cinema, he is scenario writer of: the “years sandwiches”, coscenarist with François Truffaut for the “Last Subway”, Small Apocalypse of Costa Gavras, More the Beautiful Country of the world of Marcel Bluwal (1999), " Facts of hiver" of Robert Enrico (1999). For television, he writes the scenarios of “Therese Humberg”, “Music Hall” and “the Following days which sing”.

He is one of the only alive French contemporary dramatic authors to being studied at the school (in particular the Workshop).

Jean-Claude Grumberg received the Grand Prix of the French Academy in 1991 and the Grand Prix of the SACD 1999 for the whole of his work; Molière of the best dramatic author in 1991 for “free Zone”, and in 1999 for “the Workshop”.
