Jean-Claude Duvalier

Jean-Claude Duvalier , known as Baby Doc. or Baby Doc. , wire of François Duvalier known as Papa Doc. was president of Haiti of 1971 with 1986. Born the July 3rd 1951 with Port-au-Prince, it reaches at the time of the death of his/her father, in April 1971, with the Haitian report heading.

At 19 years, he became thus the youngest Head of State in the world. Its reign was marked in the first years by a will of relaxation and appeasing, " Doc" baby; giving some pledges of democratic good will. It restores the relations of the country with the the United States and the Dominican Republic and its mandate sees the resumption of the international assistance bound for Haiti.

But as of the end of the year 1970, it returns to more repressive methods of government, and muzzles the press again. In 1985, under the pressures of the international community, via the Constitution adopted in this same year, it instituted the station of Prime Minister.

In February 1986, its policy and the economic difficulties of the country force it to escape vis-a-vis a popular insurrection. It is established in France, although not having never received the political asylum officially.

Its divorce seems to have cost him most of its fortune, although rumors having said it clochardized apparently were without base. In 2004, he announced his intention to return to Haiti and to present itself to it to the presidential election, announces which was without continuation.
