Jean-Claude Bouquet

Jean-Claude Bouquet , born with Morteau the September 7th 1819 and died in Paris the September 9th 1885, is a French mathematician who worked with Charles Briot on the doubly periodic functions.

Bouquet made its studies with Lyon and was allowed with the entrance examination to the National university in 1839. It supported in 1842 its thesis of doctorate On the variation of the double integrals . He taught with the college of Marseilles, with the Faculty of Science of Lyon, then in classes of special mathematics in Paris with the Lycée Condorcet (1852-1858) and with the Louis-the-Large Lycée (1859-1867). He was then lecturer at the National university and repeater with the Polytechnic school.

He took the succession of Joseph-Alfred Serret with the Faculty of Science of Paris in 1874 and occupied this function until in 1884.

He was elected member of the Academy of Science in 1875.
