Jean-Charles Desailly
Jean-Charles Desailly , (December 27th 1768 with Oisy (Pas-de-Calais) – May 22nd 1830) is a French soldier.
He entered in 1784 to the regiment of light infantry.
He was, the August 23rd 1792, with the Combat of the camp of Maulde; in 1793, the September 9th, with the Head office of Dunkirk; in year II, with the Combat of Rousselaer; and in year III, with the Seat of Low registers, of the 7 brumaire to the 8 nivôse.
It was used then for the army which, under the orders of Pichegru, conquered the Holland. Passed in the current of the same year to the Armed with Sambre-and-Meuse, it assisted the 22 fructidor with the Passage of the Rhine, and with the Siège of Mainz in vendémiaire year IV. In the year V, its regiment, become the 15th half-brigade of light infantry, was sent to the Armée with Italy. Desailly, by the value which it deployed the 26 ventôse with the Passage of Tagliamento, and the 28 of the same month, with the Prise of Gradisca, deserved, the 6g erminal, the gradede major. The 14 vendémiaire year XIV, it fought with Wertingen, the 24 of the same month with Ollabrunn, and the 11 frimaire with Austerlitz.
It contributed, the June 6th of the following year, with the rendering of Kœnigsberg, became Baron of the Empire in 1811, took a glorious share, 19 and the April 22nd 1809, with the battles of Tann and Eckmühl, and was rewarded for its services the June 8th, by the Brigadier general rank of . The July 6th according to, with Wagram, the same blow of gun wounded it with the right shoulder and killed its horse.
The Desailly general, employed in Russia in division Gudin, contributed the August 18th 1812, with the taken of Smolensk; but, having had the left thigh crashed to pieces two days after with the removal of Valutina-Gora, this wound obliged it, the May 13rd 1813, to require its retirement. For this time until the May 22nd 1830, date of its death, its name has been remained foreign with the events which occurred in France. One registered it on the Triumphal arch of the Star, west coast.
