Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer
Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer is a painter French, born towards 1634 with Lille and died in 1699 with London.
This specialist in the painting of flowers, works at the court of Louis XIV and for manufactures of the Gobelins and of Beauvais. He studies with Antwerp and becomes member of the Academy in 1665. Its entitled book the Book of all kinds of flowers according to nature is largely shown by many artists. It goes to London towards 1685 where it works for the duke of Montagu. Its works, of a high Botanical degree of accuracy , are very required. Many, wrongly, was allotted to him, because it does not sign and dates only seldom.
