Jean-Baptiste Lepère

Jean-Baptiste Lepère is a French architect, father-in-law of the architect Jacques Hittorff.

Bonaparte had taken it along in Egypt with for mission of checking if the project to dig a channel to connect the Mediterranean and the Red Sea through the delta of the Nile were realizable… It was also a question for him of checking if the level between the two seas were sufficiently not very important for the realization of this channel.

He was an architect of reputation (Église Saint-Vincent-of-Paul of Paris) and, inter alia, raised the Colonne Vendôme.
