Jean-Baptiste Krumpholtz

Jean-Baptiste Krumpholtz (Prague? 1742 - Paris, 1790) was a French harpist and type-setter.

Wire of a chief of brass band of Prague, he studied the Harpe with Vienna.

After various voyages in Europe, it was recommended to Haydn and took the desk of toothing-stone solo in the Esterhazy orchestra. Large virtuoso, it invented many improvements and its work led Érard later to build the prototype of the toothing-stone with double action, bases modern instrument.

Works of Krumpholtz are always with the repertory of the harpists.
