Jean-Baptiste Jeanin
Jean-Baptiste Jeanin , born the January 21st 1771 with Laneria (the Jura), is a French soldier.
Lieutenant in August 1792 in the 10th battalion of the volunteers of his department (by amalgam of years II and IV, 170e and 69e half-brigades of infantry of line), it made the campaigns of 1792 at year III, the Armée with the Rhine, and was distinguished in particular, the 22 vendémiaire year II, with the resumption of the lines of Weissembourg where, being detached spontaneously, it took in side an enemy regiment, struck down it by a fire of grapeshot, put it in full rout, and obtained the provisional command of the company of gunners of the battalion.
The 7 frimaire according to, with the Combat of Brumpt, it stopped, with its company of gunners, a strong enemy column of 10 with 11 000 men, and defended the passage of the bridge with greatest obstinacy.
Appointed captain of gunners in the 170e half-brigade of line, the 10 brumaire year III, and employed in the expeditionary Armed with Egypt, it fought with the Bataille of the Pyramids and that of Chebreiss the same year, and became titular captain to the 69e half-brigade the 1st pluviôse year VII.
At that time, belonging to the forwarding directed against the Syria, it attacked, in the night of the 17 floréal, with two companies of its half-brigade, one of the cuttings off of the place of Saint-Jean-in Acre, removed it with the bayonet, égorgeant most of the Turks: few moments afterwards, Jeanin were reached, with the left area jawbone, of a Biscaïen started from one the launches English drain-holes whose fire threaded the cutting off.

In Spain in 1808, it was characterized by a great bravery and was named there by the Emperor ordering of the Legion of honor the November 16th, then Brigadier general, with the review of Burgos, 19 of the same month; but, this last nomination not having been dispatched, Jeanin continued to order the 12th regiment in Spain until May 1809, time to which it returned to France due to health, claiming its rank, that it obtained on a report/ratio with the Emperor.
Turned over to Spain during the years 1809, 1810 and 1811, the Jeanin general was distinguished in various meetings with the Guérilla S, and was named baron the August 15th of this last year.
Returned to France like available the December 24th 1811, it was called with the command of the 14th brigade of national guard the November 11th 1812, and was sent in the Provinces illyriennes the May 3rd 1813, it ordered a brigade of division Marcognet, with the Armée with Italy, next July.
Remained to Marcognet division during the campaigns of 1814, the Jeanin general gave new evidence of courage, and was useful under the orders of the viceroy until April of the same year. Named Knight of Saint-Louis by ordinance of the August 13rd according to, and put in non-activity on September 1st, the king named it lieutenant-general the January 20th 1815.
Employed with the 6th body of observation the April 23rd, it made the countryside of the Hundred Days to the Armée with North (2nd body), and returned in non-activity on September 1st of the same year.
Available on April 1st 1820, the Jeanin lieutenant-general was put at the retirement by ordinance of February 1st 1824, and died in Saulieu (Coast-with Or), the May 2nd 1830.
