Jean-Baptiste Godart
Jean-Baptiste Godart is a Entomologiste French, born the November 25th 1775 with Origny and dead the July 27th 1825.
Impassioned by the butterflies since its youth, it is charged by Pierre André Latreille (1762-1833) with writing the article on these insects in the methodical Encyclopédie.
Godart carries out then its Natural history of the lépidoptères or butterflies of France whose publication begins in 1821 to be completed only in 1842. In addition to the fauna of France, he also studies the exotic diurnal species.
