Jean-Baptiste Charles Matthieu

Matthieu, Jean-Baptist-Charles (17. - 18.).

Lawyer at the Parliament of Paris. Appointed elected official of the Convention by the department of Oise (1792). In 1793, he had voted the death of Louis XVI of France. He could be regarded as moderate, he hated all excesses and had announced himself for his hostility towards Maximilien de Robespierre. Member of the Committee of general security, chair of this same Committee.
