The jazz Cuban Negro , or afro-jazz , is current jazz (and Latin jazz, born in the years 1930 in Cuba with Dr. Obdulio Morales after the fashion of the Bebop (the cuban alternative was called the cubop ), and the death of Charlie Parker.
In the years 1960 its popularity within the Latin jazz will decrease with the profit of the Brazilian Jazz, influenced by the Bossa nova.
The Jazz Cuban Negro took as a starting point the Mambo and the Cha-cha-cha of Cuba then of the Salsa of the Spanish Harlem, the Dominican Merengue, and the Songo (cuban also).
Mongo Santamaria was one of the pioneers of the kind. Musicians Bebop such as Dizzy Gillespie and Billy Taylor supported groups of cuban jazz afro to the whole beginning, later Miles Davis and John Coltrane also carried out certain recordings. Dizzy Gillespie collaborated with several Big band S of the jazz Cuban Negro. Musicians of Porto Rican origin like Tito Puente, also inspired the kind.
