Jatropha curcas

Jatropha curcas , of the Jatropha , is a Plante with flower originating in the Brésil whose seed provides an oil which was used in traditional medicine and the animal feed. Today oil is used like Bio-fuel and a dye; in Africa it is called pourghère or tabanani .

With beginning of the year 90, an attempt at culture to the Nicaragua on 2.000 hectares did not hold its promises and appeared catastrophic, with for only output 200 liters per hectare.

It can produce up to 1900 liters of Diester per hectare (much more than the Colza). It is easy to cultivate and pushes out of arid ground.

It requires neither tilling, neither sowing (since the lifespan of this shrub is approximately forty years), nor use of pesticides and other products polluting (thanks to its insecticidal and fungicidal qualities).

India would be on the point of planting 40 million hectares, and carried out intensive tests of this bio-fuel. Three Mercedes supplied with already traversed 30.000 kilometers. The project is supported by DaimlerChrysler and German Association for the Investment and the Development (, DEG).
