Jason is a Tyran of the town of Phères in Thessalie at the beginning of fourth century BC
It succeeds his father Lycophron and starts a policy of conquests supported by the confrontation between Thèbes, Athens and Sparte. It subjects the near total of Thessalie, part of the Épire and is combined in Thèbes against Sparte. After the victory of Épaminondas in 371 with Leuctres, it interposes between the two belligerents.
He thinks of seizing the treasure of Delphes in order to finance the project of a campaign against the kingdom Achéménide when he is assassinated in 370. Its nephew Alexandre de Phères succeeds to him.
