Jason Reso

William Jason Reso (born on November 30th, 1973 with Kitchener, in Ontario), better known under the name of Christian Cage or of Christian , is a Catch professional or. He is at present with the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling under the name of Christian Cage.

He was known as Christian with the World Wrestling Entertainment. He was in one of the most dominant teams which there existed, that is to say Edge and Christian, beside his old friend and his brother in the storylines Adam “Edge” Copeland.

In spite to be a “heel” (malicious) almost all along its career with the WWE, it gained a certain measurement of popularity, especially in its native land Canada for its personality and its humorous promotions.

Its beginnings

One of the first pseudos of combat of Reso, Christian Cage, was a combination of the names of the actors Christian Slater and Nicolas Cage. Pulled by Ron Hutchinson, the career of fight of Christan began in June 1993 in a combat against Zakk Wylde, a stagière of Gym de Sylly in Toronto. One of its first pseudos of combat was Canadian Rage. During the year 1997, it made party of the life of THUG, a stable federation including Joe Legend, Bloody Bill Skullion, Rhino Richards like its partner and friend of childhood Sexton Hardcastle (Adam Copeland which will be known later like “Edge”).

As a team on the Canadian scene indy, Copeland and Reso were known under “High Impact”, and later under “Fair The Suicide”. They were better known under “Edge and Christian” with the WWE. Also combined with Judd the Studd, the duet held the titles by team in several promotions of fight and Reso held the title of East Coast Wrestling Association before signing with World Wrestling Federation in August 1998.

World Wrestling Federation

Edge and Christian

When Jason Reso joined the WWF, it reduced its name of fighter to Christian. It made its beginnings on television on September 27th, 1998 with the pay-per-view “In Your House: Breakdown”, by distracting Edge lasting its combat against Owen Binder to reveal its alliance with Gangrel, which had had a competition against Edge.

It had individual success as of the beginning by capturing the championship of the light weights of WWF (WWF Light Heavyweight Championship) in one first combat. On the other hand, its true success came when it in its course as a team. Christian, who had the character of a vampire, trained a team with Edge (which finally was convinced to join the team) and Gangrel, which formed The Brood. The Brood briefly had a competition with the team of Undertaker “Ministry off Darkness”. They then joined the team, but they quickly learned that Christian was beaten to have said to Ken Shamrock things on Stephanie McMahon. Undertaker wanted to punish Christian. More honest in The Brood than in The Ministry, Edge and Gangrel reviré themselves against the Undertaker and one saved Christian.

The Gothic angle was a success, but little time afterwards, Edge and Christian started to reach their full potential. October 17th, 1999 with No Mercy, Edge and Christian have compétitionner against The Hardy Boyz in a combat of scale for Terri Invitational Tournament. Although Hardy Boyz gained the combat, the career of the two teams went up out of arrow and the partisans theirs gave a great ovation.

After being itself led passably as the malicious ones for their tendency to approach the arena via the audience, Edge and Christian were redefined as a duet gaffor of surfer. They are especially known for their “5 seconds pause” (for the benefit of the photographers), which annoyed certain adversaries or certain cities. They precisely prove with being inside and their module of completion, the “idiot-flesh-to”, which was a double blow of chair to the adversary. They then joined Kurt Angle (as being team ECK; Edge-Christan-Kurt) and they captured the titles by team of the world of WWF (WWF World Tag TEAM Championship) on several occasions. For example, they gained a combat on scale with three teams (triple threat ladder match) and two combat TLC (Table-Ladders-Flesh). In 2001, Rhyno began in the WWF and it joined with Edge and Christian.

The friction started in the team after Edge gained the tounoi annual King off The Ring. Christian showed jealousy and insisted to carry the trophy of Edge in the arena. Its truths colors were revealed in the world after it jumped on Edge after having lost its combat for the title of WCW (WCW Championship) against The Rock in September 2001. The former partners began a competition for the title Intercontinental (Intercontinental Championship) for several months. They exchanged the title with some recoveries.

Competition only

Christian began a career only, becoming known for that which balances its bad mood on the arena when it is not able to obtain one fallen. The partisans called this movement the “Christian the FIT” and have often to sing for. Christian joined The Alliance, but that did not last.

After a series of defeats, Christian announces that it leaves the WWF. Diamond Dallas Page, being then at this time a large motivator, convinces Christian not to leave and adopts it as its protected. Christian took up the challenge “turn” before his Master it betrayed and solidifies his statute of “heel”.

November 1st, 2001, Christian gained the European title (WWF European Championship) against Bradshaw. He then lost it against Diamond Dallas Page on February 7th, 2002. In WrestleMania X-8, Christian monopolized Hardcore title, but has it later then reperdu a few minutes.

World Wrestling Entertainment

According to a lawsuit, World Wrestling Federation changed its name for World Wrestling Entertainment.

The continuation

Christian trained a team with his Canadian compatriots Lance Storm and Test by forming part in the cavalry of anti-American and they then became the associates of Chris Jericho, with which Christian once again gained the titles by team. Christian also helped Jericho to eliminate Shawn Michaels from Royal Rumble of 2003 while getting dressed like Jericho to distract Michaels, which made it possible Jericho to attack it by behind.

During this time, The Rock came in branch RAW to congratulate it to have demolishes Hulk Hogan with No Way Out. Christian wanted to be his friend and it was made say by The Rock which it was “his favorite news superstar of the WWE”. Charmed to hear that of The Rock'n'roll, Christian started to use several manners of The Rock. He varied a little by calling his partisans “The Peeps” (similar to The Rock which calls its partisans “The People”) and by using the installation of The Rock to his victory (The Rock goes in the corner on the cords and raises the fist in the airs). Christian also assisted The Rock in his competition with Goldberg. Christian even came to be called “The New People' S Champion” (the new champion of the partisans) and uses his new charisma from there to demolish Booker T in Judgment Day 2003 for the vacant title of the intercontinental title (WWE Intercontinental Championship) in a special combat: a royal battle with nine man “over-tea-signal-rope”. The evening following with RAW, Christian appeared with the segment of the talk show “Highlight Reel” of Chris Jericho by having the short hair and of clothing of rings (It always had the long hair). He declared that The Rock ordered to him to bring back to the house the intercontinental title and moreover to use his victory to establish it as a new champion of the partisans (The People' S Champion).

The Rock was not very content in connection with the declaration with Christian and of its imitation, then it appeared in “Highlight Reel” of Chris Jericho during the interview of Christian and confronted Christian by the way that The Rock is “only and the single champion of the people”. Dissatisfied in connection with that, Jericho and Christian jumped on The Rock when Booker T came to save The Rock.

Later in 2003, Jericho and Christian began to court the divas Trish Stratus and Lita. They put, for a Canadian dollar, to see which will sleep with their target. Despite everything, the girls discovered the setting. Jericho east Stratus remained together for a certain time, by leading the separation of Jericho and Christian to the beginning of 2004. Christian wounded Stratus in a combat with RAW. During a combat between Christian and Jericho with WrestleMania XX, Trish betrayed Jericho, which because the victory of Christian. Trish then joined its forces with Christian (on screen, the couple was to call “Tristian”) and his “Problem Solver” Tyson Tomko to put the life of miserable Jericho to RAW. During a combat out of cage against Jericho on May 10th, 2004, Christian underwent a severe wound with the back, which him because an absence for almost 4 months. He returned on August 30th, 2004 in an edition of RAW.

Captain Charisma

The gimmick of Christian became one on self, presumptuous “heel”. Also, it became popular in Canada and the United Kingdom. It is thus to call “ Captain Charisma ” and on December 6th, 2004, it was forced to fight as Captain Charisma, supplemented with a costume of superman by his rival Chris Jericho, who was the GM ( general manager ) of the evening. Christian was always accompanied by Tyson Tomko and usually gained his engagements with the interference of Tomko and by other methods of fraud. Later, Christian was forced to fight in team with Edge some times towards the end of 2004 and at the beginning of 2005. In spite to be malicious (heel), it has receipt of the partisans worships, who it refers to be its “peeps”, “Peepulation” (a pun with “population”) or the “Christian Coalition”. He saw himself giving a new music of entry, a remix of the song “Just Close Your Eyes” of the group rock'n'roll Waterproof Blonde.

In Royal Rumble 2005, Christian had a meeting with John Cena and declared to him that it was the best to grate than Cena. The next months, Christian started to make promotions denouncing John Cena as being an installation (“has to pose”). Christian was notably hooted during this segment and finally was in “hands vent”. Little time afterwards, Cena is changed branch, that is to say while passing from SmackDown! with RAW. It defended successfully its title of WWE (WWE Championship) in a combat with three between itself, Christian and Jericho with Vengence 2005. After the combat, the competition completely turned for Cena vs Jericho and the months of work for Cena vs Christian were launched to water without mention.

Between his engagements with Cena, Christian took part in the “Money-in-tea-Bank Ladder Match” in WrestleMania 21. He was generally a not-factor, although one of the most memorable moments was when Tomko has to halfway assemble it in the scale. Then, Christian saw his scale falling by Kane, going to jump above the higher cord and landing in the arms of Tomko. He had joined Edge rather and they had to give a “idiot-flesh-to” with scales to Kane. It had a leading role in the parody for BASIC Instinct of connection with the topic “WrestleMania Goes Hollywood”.

In an episode of SmackDown! June 30th, 2005, Christian was the last but one man to be fished out in SmackDown! in the fishing out of the WWE. It has to replace The Big Show in a combat of elimination to six men to be the new champion of SmackDown! , but it was eliminated by John Bradshaw Layfield. Christian had previously said in an interview that it wished to be fished out in SmackDown! , because the emission needed a Canadian (although Chris Benoit had arrived a little earlier in the fishing out).

Christian praised himself owing to the fact that it was in évênement evening with the two emissions, would be RAW and SmackDown! , in the same week. On the other hand, it was demolishes by Batista in a long combat on July 7th, 2005. Little time after, Christian is to give his own segment of interview to SmackDown! called “The Peep Show”.

With the pay-per-view Great American Bash on July 24th, 2005 with Buffalo, New York, Christian lost a combat against Booker T. Christian lost a “Fatal Furnace Way Match” against Chris Benoit, Booker T and Orlando Jordan for the American title (WWE United States Championship) of Benoit with No Mercy 2005, while giving up against Sharpshooter de Benoit.

October 31st, 2005, Jay Reso left the WWE. Agreeing to Dave Meltzer, he asked to sign an new agreement lasting the recordings of October 21st, 2005 in an edition of Smackdown!. Christian did not want to sign the contract, and its last combat was occuré during the recordings for the edition of Smackdown! of November 4th, 2005. Although it left, Christian appeared with RAW and in Taboo Tuesday 2005 and would have fought if the partisans had voted for. In particular, during the combat (where Matt Hardy and Rey Mysterio one received greatest numbers of votes), one could hear “We Want Christian” (One wants Christian) at a certain point.

Contrary to the first rumors, Reso declared during its speech at its beginnings with TNA Genesis 2005 that the WWE under did not estimate its offer of contract; in fact, supposément, the WWE offered a “rather heavy” contract to remain. It had made the decision to leave several months before its expiry of contract and it had gotten along in terms with the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling before its departure.

Total Nonstop Wrestling Action

Reso began with the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling on November 13rd, 2005 with the pay-per-view Genesis 2005 pennies its name original from combat, Christian Cage. After having made an alliance with his old friend Scott D' Amore of “TEAM Canada” and “Planet Jarett”, it delivered the “Unprettier” in Amore and helped TEAM 3D sent Jeff Jarrett through a table.

Cage made its beginnings with TNA impact! November 19th, 2005 while engaging verbally in “The Male Alpha” Monty Brown. Brown concerned her chance to be suction the #1 for the title of NWA (NWA Wolrd Heavyweight Championship) with Turning Point.

Cage had its first combat for the TNA on December 8th, 2005 by demolishing Bobby Roode of TEAM Canada in spite of the interference of Monty Brown. It has then demolishes Brown with Turning Point.

In an edition of impact! of January 9th, 2006, Cage stopped with humor a sécance where the members of Planet Jarrett and TEAM Canada made fun of Sting. Christian retorted: “I have good and a bad news. The bad news is that you paraisser really like the thick ones. The new good news is that I have just saved money on the insurance of my car!”. With Final TNA Resolution 2006, Cage and Sting (which carried out a return) have demolishes Brown and Jarrett.

February 12th, 2006 with TNA Against All Odds 2006, Cage has demolishes Jarrett for the title of the World Heavy truck of the NWA (NWA World Heavyweight Championship). In the process, he became first Canadian to hold the belt since Ron Garvin in 1987 and the fourth Canadian to hold the belt in the history (after Whipper Billy Watson, Gene Kiniski and Garvin). It defended successfully its title against Monty Brown with TNA Destination X the 2006 on March 12th 2006.

April 2nd, 2006, a video was shown on the site of the TNA showing Abyss to enter the house of Christian Cage with Father James Mitchell, filmed by Alex Shelley. In the video, a brawl was déclanchée between Cage and Abyss, including a funny scene in the kitchen of Cage when Christian had temporarily the top, by striking Abyss the head with a water distributer. The video also shows Abyss launching Cage in its swimming pool. Christian Cage agreed the challenge of Mitchell to deal with Abyss with Lockdown. Cage gained the combat successfully, but Abyss attacked it after the combat and took its belt to him. They were scédulé for a rematch with Sacrifice when Christian tried to recover his belt, although he is already the champion. The combat was “Full Metal Mayhem Match”. In terms of the kayfabe, Christian indicated that he wanted " mourir" to demolish Abyss. In Sacrifice, Cage has demolishes Abyss to keep its belt once again.

Cage defended its title NWA World Heavyweight Championship against Abyss, Ron “The Truth” Killings, Jeff Jarrett and Sting in a combat “King off The Mountain” with TNA Slammiversary 2006. The combat was declared not-official due to the interventions of Larry Zbyszko, Jeff Jarret and Earl Hebner. Sting and Christian fought for the victory, but the three others prevented a “screwjob”, which made it possible Jarrett to gain. The belt was removed later in Jarrett, which put the vacant belt. The company made a meeting, which was diffused on June 29th with impact!. This evening, Jim Cornette decided that Jarrett was the champion, in the condition which it defends his title in a combat with 4 (fatal furnace way match) in Victory Road 2006 against Christian Cage, Samoa Joe, Scott Steiner and Sting. The combat ended in a victory of Jarrett.
