In the Greek Mythology, Jason or Iason (in Greek old Ἰάσων / Iásôn ) is the son of Éson (king of Iolcos in Thessalie). He sees his father dispossessed of the throne by his uncle Pélias. Saved sights homicides of Pélias by friends, it is raised by the Centaure Chiron.
Become adult, he claims the throne of his father, that Pélias promises to him provided that he brings back the to him Golden Fleece, which is then in Colchide. Jason undertakes the voyage on the ship Argo , accompanied by many Greek heroes, the Argonautes.
Arrived in Colchide, it overcomes the dragon and then obtains the Fleece with the assistance of Médée, girl of the king Éétès and magician, whom it marries then. It returns then in Thessalie to find his father died, killed by Pélias. Jason is avenged by Médée, but Acaste, sons of Pélias, hunting. They are exiled with Corinthe, where Jason forsakes Médée and ends up marrying Créüse, the girl of the king Créon. Médée is avenged by killing Créüse and its family, like her own children (Phérès and Merméros). Jason commits suicide after this tragedy.
