Jasenovac

Jasenovac is a municipality (common) of Croatia in the south of the Comitat de Sisak-Moslavina with the junction of the river Una and Save. The municipality had a population of 2391 inhabitant in 2001, 91% being Croatian and 5,90% Serb .

Etymology

Jasenovac means Croatian Frêne in , the municipality is indeed surrounded by a drill of ashes.

History

The municipality is historically known for the Concentration camp of Jasenovac established in the city by the State independent of Croatia during the Second world war.
