Jarretelle
A jarretelle is an elastic ribbon provided with a grip to the one of its ends and being used to fix the Bas at the sheath or the Porte-jarretelles.
History
The jarret' elle' is a modernization of the jarret' ière' , part of clothing very old: at the 14th century, there was a Order of the Garter; more recently, in certain areas, there was a tradition of the jumper of the bride.Initially, the jarretelle one was created in 1876 by the corsetier Féréol Dedieu for medical reasons. By joke, certain humorists said that Gustave Eiffel was the inventor of jarretelle and that it had conceived the Eiffel Tower to represent a leg of woman to back.
The image of Marlène Dietrich in garter belt sitting with - califourchon on a chair remained in the history. It is one of the symbols of the pre-war period of Germany. This image comes from the film the blue Angel of 1929.
